It's always been black. She spends a lot of time roaming fields. Could the mucus she produces just be turning black cuase of the dust?

Ive had cats most of my life and they've never had black mucus think you need to take it to the vets could be anything liver kidney or even a chest infection does it have a pungent smell to it if it does this could be a sign of an infection hope he?she is ok

First of all, the fact that enough mucus is coming out of your cat for you to be able to tell a color difference is bad. It means she is sick. The fact that the mucus is an odd color is also bad. It means she is sick. Call vet now.

I dont think so, where is the mucus coming out of? is she coughing it up? Does anyone inn your home smoke? maybe she has lung cancer. Just thinking. Im not really an expert in cats. take her to the vet. Theyll tell you.

Does that seem normal to you? Get the cat to a vet!

is it possible that she rubbed her face in something really dirty or something dark that came off on her nose? if so, it could appear black because the dirt would just mix with the clear mucus.

but anyway, i agree with the others, you should call the vet and take her in.
