The soul of the living being. I believe we were created in God's image. Similar to The Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Which is known as the Creator, the Flesh, the Spirit. We are also created Mind, Body, Soul.
I think the consciousness knows God completely, but is not where we focus enough to guide our lives. Our mind works with logic learned and created by our body experience. The physical tends to interfere with our spiritual completeness.
When we die, the consciousness lives eternally. I realize many believe differently where it goes. I do think there is a common belief that in someway it lives on.

mostly its a feeling of being aware... just exaclty how aware we are is subject to much debate... for example: without turning around name 10 things located behind you right now not in your field of vision. how aware are you of your own surroundings?
