The shin is not actually a 'common' point for eczema. Its mainly joints & creases e.g. behind the knees and inner elbows. How long have you been off milk & bread? I have eczema & stopped taking milk but it took up to 2 months to make a difference because your body has to recognise & adjust to it. However, make sure you take calcium tablets etc. And yes, alcohol can flare up eczema. Try applying aloe vera gel & borage oil cream...its very good! good luck :-)

Eczema is in the same family as allergies and all that fun stuff, in that drinking won't effect it, diet won't do much to effect it, and really if it's going to flare up, it's going to flare up.
The absolute best thing for it is a certain ointment a doctor will perscribe. It has to be used very sparingly, but it will remove the itchy and red parts all together. It takes a little time, but for an outbreak to run its course is much longer.

I didn't think Eczema was common on the shin - I have had it for years and never get it there - it is more common in the joints of your skin ie behind your knee and behind your elbow - are you sure it is Eczema?

On your shin? You're lucky! I have it all over my body! Nothing you can really do, certainly don't bother with Doctors, they aren't even slightly interested. Pure alo vera gell sooths it, sudocreme really helps to stop it itching and going red. Keep using it though.
Good luck!!
