I would fillet it as someone mentioned before and then cut it into 4 and freeze 3 of them. As long as the fish is fresh, it should be fine to freeze and use whenever. Although it's not hard to fillet a salmon, it's very hard to tell you how to do it. Next time you buy from the supermarket, ask them to fillet the fish for you and ask if you can watch while they're doing it, after that you can do it yourself. I know that Morrisons would be fine doing this for you because I used to work there and that's where I learnt to fillet, skin and gut a fish.

I would cut it into cutlets: use a sharp knife and with the fish belly down, cut hard through the back. Each cutlet should be half inch to three quarter inch thick. Leave the end as one piece. It is obviously a farmed fish so you will need some seasoning, some herbs and a light dusting of flour. Fry in oil or butter until it suits your taste. Those you do not intend to use may be frozen before flouring. (put 2 in each freezer bag). You may be disappointed due to lack of flavour of farm reared salmon.......

It really depends on what you want to do with it. Personally I would take the fillets off of the bone so you have two nice whole fillets. Then I would portion them out into individual servings. Then use what you're going to use, and freeze the rest. Later you can defrost what you want to use.

if it is fresh then you can freeze it once you have cut it into as many portions as you want.
the best way to cut it is take the head off and then cut the salmon into darns, this is straight through giving you salmon steaks.
to coo them you should grill them with black pepper and lemon juice and serve them with a hollandaise sauce. i wish i was coming around for dinner.
hope this helps.
