They're having this activity at my son's school tomorrow about food, folklore, and costumes of different countries round the globe. My son will represent France & I'm teaching him to say "Je suis Francais". I know how to say "je suis"but not sure about my "francais" pronouncation. Would you help me please?

froh-say'

There's a recording of the word at the page below. Scroll down to the "wikipedia" section, and it's at the beginning.\

EDIT: Also, people are saying "fron-say" above, but you don't pronounce the "n."

Alex Trebek just said francè instead of françai. Canadians make the distinction between these two sounds whereas the Metropolitan French rarely do. My old Francocanadian-American English dictionary says he is correct. The rule I recently learned is that -ais or è sound applies mostly to verbs as in je parlerais versus je parlerai. But my dictionary say frais = frè also. No one in France or Canada every corrected me, which ever sound I used.

It is very difficult to write a sound in another language, but it would be: Francé. The A sounds like a combination of O and A

"Fron-say" would be how it's pronounced, but with a slight roll on the Fr.

mahl like the "a" in "a la carte" er like in "her" euhz like in "books" with a "z" at the end rather than an "s" mohn like "on" in "ontario" but more nasal and don't finish saying the "n" The final "t" is pretty much unpronounced unless the next word starts with a vowel The accent is on the first syllable
