The Bible says that God will have a descendent of David as the leader of Israel forever - I know Jesus is coming back and will be the leader then, but I'm wonderding about the guy in charge of Israel now.

The verse you cited says that if David's descendants keep the commandments he will never stop having a descendant on the throne of Israel forever.

They did not do the best of jobs in that regard, and ceased having descendants on the throne of Israel right after David's son, Solomon, passed away. At that point his descendants sat on the throne of the Kindgom of Judah, and other kings sat on the throne of the Kingdom of Israel. (You can find this all in the book of Kings in the Bible. In Christian Bibles it's broken into 1st and 2nd Kings. Very interesting stuff.)

The Kingdom of Israel was temporarily reestablished around 166BC, but the King was not a descendant of David or from the tribe of Judah, rather he was a Levite.

Briefly in the 2nd Century it was revived again for three years, that leader was a descendant of David.

The modern State of Israel doesn't have any religious signifigance for Jews, it just happens to be a country that Jews run, and its leaders carry no weight as leaders of the Jews globally. They aren't sitting on the throne of Israel, they are sitting in an office on a swivel chair and leading a random country that named itself Israel. They represent who elects them, if that; so the laws of Kingship don't apply to them.

Is the current PM a descendant of David? If he's actually Jewish, he probably is as a little math and common sense will show you every Jew in the world has every Jew alive back then as an ancestor. Does he have a direct male line back to David. I'd doubt it.

The leader of Israel is not of the line of David.

And, I do not believe that Jesus will come back---he died 2,000 years ago-------so, I do not know who will someday rule Israel.

The Messiah will not come till the world has made ready for him-and we have a long way to go till the world is good enough for him to come.

I don't know that anyone knows...but one thing that everyone does know....Jesus is not a descendant of David, at least not in any way that counts for anything.
