The calories in a roast dinner will obviously vary with the size of the portion and the way the meal is prepared however, listening to the radio the other day they say the average calorie intake for Christmas Day per person will be around 8000!
Im sure you'll already know the recommended maximum daily intake is 2500 for men and 2000 for women.

2 slices roast beef or lamb, 100-130 calories, depending on how fatty the meat is
3 medium roast potatoes (about 200g) 300 calories
Steamed carrots 13 calories
peas 32 calories
roasted onion 40 calories (if in pan with roast)
Gravy 45 calories
Total: approximately 540 calories (or an 8 mile, about 2 hours, Sunday afternoon walk at a slow pace)

To be honest, I dont really know how many calories there are in a roast dinner, but hey, who cares, its Christmas!

Dont worry about the calories just enjoy your dinner and if you are still worried, just go for a long walk afterwards. Have a brilliant Christmas and a great New Year!

I agree with Mick - the dinner itself is not particularly high in calories, especially if you only have one potato. Its the other stuff thats high in fat and calories - peanuts, booze, christmas pudding, trifle, cream, mince pies. Its not the actual dinner you have to worry about. I would say the dinner itself would be about 400 calories.

But for goodness sake, dont worry too much, dont start celebrating too early - dont eat nibbles - and enjoy yourself on the day! Merry Christmas!

Don't worry about it unless you plan to eat like this every day!
America puts too much emphasis on our looks & it is not just for health reasons!
As long as you just lay back & enjoy yourself & have an ecellent meal once or twice a year,it should not make a difference.

Not many calories in a roast meal because it is made up mainly of vegetables, you need to bulk up your meal with lots of veggies.
