It seems that the largest animal society is the Tri City Animal Shelter. I found them listed at: http://www.ci.desoto.tx.us/tri_city_shelter.htm

They have their animals listed at jwww.petfinder.com - which can also lead you to other organizations in the area. Just do a search for Cedar Hill, TX and see who is listing pets in the area.

Good luck!

Hi,

Good for you wanting to volunteer!!

Try www.petfinder.com and input the zip code for Cedar Hill.

I would also search the Cedar Hill newspapers and see if there are any stories in there about local shelters.

I, too, have moved and volunteered for more than 1 place. If you can't find anything through these resources, wait until you move and then call the local animal control officer and ask him/her about shelters. He will be able to point you to a good one and help you avoid any private shelters that might be shady.

Good luck!

I took the liberty of looking and fond that...
a nearby shelter is: Tri-City Animal Shelter
the address is: 1150 E. Pleasant Run Rd.
the phone number is: 972-291-5335
the email is: tricities@cedarhilltx.com

Free labor is almost always wanted. You will just have to check with each individual location in person. Most places will not take volunteers over the phone and require a personal meeting before signing up.

I don't have any contact info for shelters in that area, but I can tell you that the Humane Society and ASPCA shelters *always* take volunteers, and they'll take just as much of your time as you're willing to give.

You should be able to look them up on the web and give them a call. They'll be glad to have you. Thanks so much for donating your time to animals that really need it!

One of the best ways to find local shelters is to visit http://www.petfinder.com and search for shelters in your area. From there you can call and e-mail them to see what kind of help they need.

Good luck to you. : )
