I plan on going to a friends house in Chicago for possibly 2 weeks, and was wondering how I go about using their restroom? Should I bring mah own bathroom items? Soap, shampoo, etc.

i think you should take what you need for yourself. It's not that you are going to the friend next door over the night, you seem to have a "long" trip. Just don't take towel, i'm sure they can give that to you!

Good luck and have fun

Yes bring your own bathroom items. Your friend will provide the wash rags & towels. But remember to clean up after yourself. It's just polite to do so and not expect someone else to clean your mess. And if you're a good house guest they're likely to invite you over again. A small thank-you gift is nice as well, such as a nice potted plant, wine, etc.

When I stay with friends, I always bring my own toiletries - soap, shampoo, etc. It's not like I'm staying at a hotel where housekeeping will leave little bars of soap, etc.

Oh, and don't forget to bring a small thank-you gift for your friends for letting you stay with them!!

Be considerate. Help keep the place clean for you hosts!

Don't be a total PIG.
My college buddies visit every now and then. They are single in their 30s and pigs, basically.

Its not uncommon to find piss all over the place, hardend phlem in the sink, disgusting stains on the sheets, glasses and food containers through out the house. They made a fire one night and forgot to open the damper! My place still smells like smoke, not to mention the smoke damage to my house!!!!!

Use their shampoo, soap etc......try and be neat.

3-Bring your own shampoo/conditioner
4- If you think you should, ok but you don't have to
5-No.
If you are gay- Why do you care??!!!???!!!???

I would provide my guests with soap, toothpaste and bath towels. To be on the safe side, bring along your own shampoo.

Absolutely bring your own personal items. Perhaps even your own towel/s.

The thing is to be respectful and not make unnecessary work for your host/s. (Also help around the house or at least ask if you can help. Unless they have paid maids & staff).

If you are staying for 2 weeks, yes, I would be your own shampoo, etc. Other stuff like towels, tp, etc. are your hosts responsiblity and they wouldn't (shouldn't) expect you to BYO.

I love Chicago. Have fun.

If the person with whom you're staying is a good host, he or she will put out new, unopened *basic* toiletries (shampoo, soap and toothpaste) for you. However, if I were you, I'd play it safe and bring your own toiletries.

Well it kinda depends on how close your friend is.
I would bring my own "shower" soap regardless how close you 2 are.
and shampoo and condition could be an option, i would bring my own aswell, just cause theirs maynot be what you like to use.
