People are so skeptical because they are constantly being lied to and they have not been educated in logical thinking and data analysis. I have and I am not skeptical as I can sort the truth from the lies, and believe me there are a LOT of lies out there. If you can sort through the data and can discard the BS from the observable truth, you may wonder how so much false data can run rampant in the society, but you will not be skeptical.

Because babies that aren't skeptical end up suffocating in plastic grocery bags, or getting their heads caught in automatic car windows.

Due to this fact, there are more and more skeptics taking over our society every day, as the gullible types don't last as long.

Being skeptical is a defense mechanism to prevent you from being hurt. If you are skeptical about something, you will not get your hopes up and then become disappointed when it does not turn out as you had hoped.

Some of us just need proof, or at least credible explanations. Also, proof from more than one source helps, too. And skepticism is healthy; it shows you're thinking. Blind acceptance is lazy, and dangerous. That's the way dictatorships start.

its human nature, which is a good thing, because our skepticism allows us to question almost everything. and questioning opens up the possibility of new knowledge and a renewed understanding of all ideas.
