They're always talking about "closing off the borders" If you guys close off your borders, LEGAL immigrants won't be passing to the United States. I agree that you guys should build a fence, but not close off the borders

Ignorance, and the lack of reliable information. USA people do not know what it is all about. Hear the word immigrant, and that by itself has a lot of negative cognotacions. and they don't know, that in another sense, USA needs immigrants, but in a controlled way.
This is a short view of the problem, it needs more information and more debate to deal with this problem.and the problem is the illegal, and the ones who do not integrate, the last , a very big minority.

Sealing the borders does not prevent legal immigrants from coming legally to the USA.It will only stop the illegal aliens. But I do agree the illegal aliens supporters are causing a problem for even legal immigrants with their anti American acts.

I am just a tad tired of hearing people say that Americans are ignorant and unworldly.Well we don't live in a tiny country that you can cross in an hour,we live in a huge nation. Many Americans including myself have traveled all over the world on business and pleasure.I'm not ignorant nor am I unworldly.Perhaps your judgment is clouded by your looking at us with clouded eyes of hate or dislike.
I live and own a business in Arizona,I see first hand everyday the damage being done to my city and my state by the influx of illegal aliens. They are harmful to this nation in ways you could never comprehend. The cost of this so called "cheap labor" to this nation is astronomical.
Trust me we well know the problems that a tidal wave of illegal aliens bring.

"Closing the borders" as you may have heard it doesn't not mean stopping LEGAL immigration. Almost all Americans are aware that their families were immigrants. Many legal immigrants are amongst the most productive members of American society. However illegal immigration lets in whomever, including criminals and people who want to abuse the social programs offered.

We Americans are also aware that our families went to Ellis Island or some other processing station. They tried to learn English and didn't wave the flags of their home countries. I work with many legal immigrants. They try to do the same thing. But look at the illegals. One third of our jails contain illegal immigrants. Why rob some poor slob in Mexico when you can be much more lucrative here in the US? This is the difference between legal and illegal immigrants.

Closing our borders doesn’t’ makes sense. First of all this country would never had the substantial economic growth with out all the immigration we experienced in the last 10 years. We want to close our border to stop the Mexicans from coming in how ever, why should we continue taking all the resources and benefits we get from them. For instance oil. That is not the solution. Instead of impoverishing “like we have been doing for the last century” all the Latin American countries lets help then create democracy and opportunities for their citizens. This hold situation; it is coming back and biting us in the bud finally. If you don’t believe me read. Globalization and its discontents. by Mr. Stiglits.

"closing off the borders" is a metaphor, and should not be taken literally. This phrase suggests the US will build physical barriers to prevent illegal aliens from entering. Illegal aliens are a huge problem in the US, draining the country of roughly 9% of its tax base. The currently existing rules for immigration would still apply to those choosing the legal procedure; that is, they would have the same chance to enter by applying as such.

Please don't be so lame. Legal immigrants don't enter over the area where they'd build the fence. They need to build the fence so people will enter in the area designated to enter. We say SECURE the borders. Not close the borders. Even though I do think they should until this fiasco is fixed.

WHEN THEY SAY CLOSE THE BORDERS THEY MEAN THE UN PROTECTED PORTION OF THE MEXICAN AMERICAN BORDER. THE MAIN ENTRY POINTS FOR THE ILLEGALS THAT SNEAK IN. THEY DO NOT MEAN TO TOTALLY CLOSE THE BORDERS WHERE NO ONE CAN COME IN OR OUT. THE LEGAL ENTRY POINTS WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR ALL LEGAL TRAVEL, BUT THE UNPROTECTED SPOTS WILL OR SHOULD BE FENCED UP SO THAT YOU CAN NOT ILLEGALLY ENTER WITH OUT BEING DOCUMENTED BY THE AUTHORITIES

"closing the borders" means keeping illegals out...not keeping legals out.
Rather than listen to others' or just assume things, maybe you should do some research and know what you're talking about.

Until we get rid of the illegal immigrants, we don't need any more people coming.

But besides that, closing the border wouldn't stop legal immigration, only illegal immigration. There are check in points for legal immigrants.
