I am totally astounded at the people who answer questions when they do not know the truth. You do NOT burn muscle in Ketosis but FAT! LOL! That is the beauty if ketosis. You will need to keep your carbs low. Try at first 20 carbs then stay that way for 2 weeks (induction) a good indicator your there is your breath will smell odd. The best bad breath in the world for dropping those pounds. Read the links I supplied. Just stock up on toothpaste. LOL just kidding.
I have been on Atkins for 3 years and love it. I lost all my weight that I needed to and kept it off comfortably. I look and feel wonderful.
Remember ketosis is not the same as ketoacidosis which is dangerous for diabetics.

You must NOT be in ketosis for lengthy intervals of time. Ketosis is an excessively critical concern, probably main to kidney failure (that is how I acquired that method . . . .). Ketosis indicates a significant state of "fats burning", anything that's a ways in way over common, even a common weight reduction nutrition. Ketosis can result in Ketoacidosis, which will also be deadly. Ketosis is a recognized facet-end result of low-carb diets, and if you're diabetic you DO NOT wish this situation! Sound scientific recommendation says this it IS damaging, and best the ones proponents of enormously low-carb diets (which produce ketosis) disagree. Yes, ketosis WILL make you consider awful! Your procedure is poisoning itself. It sounds as regardless that your carbs are too low, exceptionally considering the fact that you're supposedly in have compatibility situation. But what you'll be able to bench press is main best to a couple females -- NOT to a knowledgable health care provider. >I< consider you wish to have a moment opinion, each involving the nutrition AND the diabetes. GO SEE AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST, and do it VERY SOON.

I was in Ketosis, my doctor has me on just 35 carbs a day, I do use ketone sticks and was in ketosis but despite still eating 35 or less carbs a day and under 1000 calories I am out of Ketosis and it is very frustrating, I have not strayed from the 35 carbs a day. (the ideal protein way without paying the high price for Ideal Protein)

Don't eat carbs (keep them to under 50g per day) and you should be able to maintain ketosis. Raise your carb intake gradually while testing with ketone sticks to find a good level for you where you can eat some carbs and still maintain.

I wouldn't do it because you burn muscle... including heart muscle. Just not wise. There are better ways to lose weight.
