Logistic officers normally fall into one of three specific branches: Quartermaster (supply), Transportation (movement) and Ordnance (maintenance). In Iraq they are responsible for keeping the force supplied, moving it where it needs to go and fixing what gets broken. However, they are being pressed into more and more unfamiliar duties as they are also serving on MTT (Military Transition Teams)/Iraqi Army Advisors. Obviously there are a lot more details involved, but that is the basic "big picture" scope of their jobs.
