I have been through a lot this year and as a result my relationship with God has suffered. I don't pray the way I used to and I don't worship the way I used to. How do I press past my pain to spend the time I know I need to spend with Him?

First if you have already accepted Christ into your heart before there's no need to confess the prayer of salvation again. The relationship is still in tact through Jesus Christ. But you may have fallen out of fellowship with Him, and that fellowship can be regained by repenting and confessing your sins to Him. Make it a habit to confess to God your sins daily, and ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrightousness. He is faithful to forgive you of your sins if you ask. Second, ask Him to surround you with other Christians that are truly representing Him so that you can be encouraged in your walk with Him. Find yourself a good church home that will challenge you in your walk with God. Seek to grow and mature in Christ try to pray atleast 5 minutes a day and read(meditate on)1 scripture a day. (try making it a habit). God is faithful and is there waiting for you to fellowship with Him.

Do the the same old things you used to do when you had a good relationship with Him. Be repentant of all the wrong things you've done. But best of all, do more charitable work, for God dwells with the poor and the down trodden. Do your selfless works for the love of God, for it is with the poor, you will find Him.

an fairly hypothetical question for me as i replaced into widowed final year, and my previous husband gave up the ghost as quickly as we divorced, and in the past I remarried. I even have some previous sweeties from my previous, yet none activity me in a romantic way. I even have in no way been in a severe relationship so suitable that there replaced into in no way a heartache, however the good far out weighed the undesirable.

There are many different ways of praying! A kind word is a prayer, a kind deed is a prayer etc. Telling God you are sorry and meaning it helps! And try to do better next time, helps!

Repent and tell God that you are sorry. Talk to Him, pray, read and study the Word, and get into fellowship with other Christians. Seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened for you.

Pray to Him--make sure you're alone and able to concentrate. let Him know you're ready to pick up where you left off. Go to church and read your bible. God bless you-I've been where you're at-just open up to Him and the healing will begin.

Repent, pray, READ YOUR BIBLE and go to services. Instead of thinking about your pain think about the pain that Jesus went through. God bless you!~ Angie

Acts 26:20
First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

Matthew 3:8
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:10
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Job 34
31 "Suppose a man says to God,
'I am guilty but will offend no more.

32 Teach me what I cannot see;
if I have done wrong, I will not do so again.'

33 Should God then reward you on your terms,
when you refuse to repent?

Romans 8:13
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live

I hope these scriptures will illustrate the need to repent first and foremost---but the strength to repent comes through prayer---perhaps you need to even fast.

God be with you--I am going through the same sort of things right now and I am learning that God wants me to repent too! That is why I put the Job scripture in here, because it is an example of just praying to God and getting no results, because prayer without repentance is just lip service to God.

Also, another good scripture:

Isaiah 42:

23 Which of you will listen to this
or pay close attention in time to come?

24 Who handed Jacob over to become loot,
and Israel to the plunderers?
Was it not the LORD,
against whom we have sinned?
For they would not follow his ways;
they did not obey his law.

25 So he poured out on them his burning anger,
the violence of war.
It enveloped them in flames, yet they did not understand;
it consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.

What is important here--to me--is to note that God wanted the Israelites to 'understand' and 'take to heart' something. I think that 'something' that he wants them to understand and take to heart is that GOD will discipline us when we sin. So if you are undergoing great hardships, then know that God is chastening you for your wrongs to turn you away from them back to himself.

Hebrews 12
7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

12Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.

Here is one more that is really encouraging:

Psalm 81
13 "If my people would but listen to me,
if Israel would follow my ways,

14 how quickly would I subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes!

15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him,
and their punishment would last forever.

16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you."

See from verse 13 and 14--that there is a question for each of us from God. "How long do you think I will make you wait for me to deliver you?" "If you turn and obey me do you believe I will bless you?"

According to verse 16 God can even bring honey from the rock.
