I do both Cross Country and Track and I am looking into buying a pair of spikes. I know there is Cross Country(they are thicker) spikes and Track Spikes(thinner) I only want to buy one pair, which ones would be better to buy?

Most cross country spikes can be worn for track races. However, a lot of track spikes do not necessarily work for cross country. Cross country spikes have more heel cushion (if you can call it cushion) and recessed spikes. (meaning the screws are lower than the surface of the spike) Not all track spikes have heel support, and middle distance spikes have less than distance spikes. I ran cross country and track in high school and college, and in high school I ran both cross country and track in middle distance spikes. (Of course, our cross races were only two miles). I think you'd be safe in a distance spike for both, it just sort of depends on what you run in track. Try going to a running speciality store and asking one of the people who work there. I've been coaching for a few years now and running for many more, and I've found that they know more about running shoes than anyone.
Also, I'm more than willing to give you some suggestions on spikes -- just tell me your distances. Hope that helps.

Different surfaces where spikes in shoe are not used, different shoes,thinner track spikes were spikes in shoes are used. sometimes lots of mud in cross country they are going to get totally trashed so you really won't be able to use just one pair,

really should go for some cross country flats if you want to use the shoes for both track and cross country.
