I'm new to this, my mother was adopted and is 85, recently they have opened birth certificates of natural parents . I'm looking for any info on them. Grandmother - Dora Scheffenboro, born in Missoula, Mt 1898 or 1899. My mother's name was Jane Willis, and she was born on mar 21, 1922 in Portland, Oregon at city hos[ital. She had two older siblings- names unkown. My grandfather's name was Henry Willis, born in 1883 or1884 in Chico, Ca (possibly Chino) and he died before my mother was born , between july 1921 and mar 1922. I'm having a hard time getting online info from bureau of vital statistics. The only document I have is my mother's original b-certificate. Any free help out there? Thanks

Hey Little Onion,

You need to get the vital records that you can. Death certificates, obituaries, birth certificates, census records, wills, probate, etc. Vital records can be obtained first at the City/Town records. That will be cheapest. Go to the library for obits, and read some of the materials I am attaching (web sites).

Also, you should pursue the Family Search site for each of those names. GENFORUM for each Surname, and web searches for all FAMILY .

Your question is a big one, so, I did not get specific. You have a lot of work ahead of you. Good luck. Feel free to get specific.

Go to people data .com Or people find .com if you have that much information then it should be no problem finding her. Or just start writing people down there and see who response to you. I'm sure there is someone who can tell you something back in her home town. Usually people don't move away and someone could have some information for you. GOOD LUCK....
