~~~ corey,,,,A Very short Primer: If you consider the Reincarnationist POV for a moment,,,,that is,,,in the buddhist concept that The Universal Life Force (Tao or Chi, Qi, Ki) is inherent in ALL things,,, animate or inanimate in relative amounts. We may begin at the sub-atomic level as these kinds of forms, graduating to the atomic level,,,then perhaps to the Mineral "Kingdom" and experience this existence(s) which has it's many forms (for this illustration don't be concerned about 'life and death' in this form),,, then on to a single celled organism, then multi-celled,,, then maybe 'lives' spent in the Plant Kingdom in it's myriad forms,,, perhaps a visit or two to the Insect Kingdom and now we have earned elements of Freewill to use and develope. ,,, then on to advanced Lifeforms in the Animal Kingdom and eventually 'graduate' by Earning our Right to experience life as a Human Being with all it's 'abilities' or 'gifts from god'". (The Gaseous State or Etheric Realm is of debate for some in it's standing among these various "kingdoms" but you should note that this should be included.) By now you should deduce that this is akin to an Earth School for Spiritual Beings to develope their Soul via Earthly Experiences,,, most especially the Human Experience,,, that we may evolve into Enlightened Beings and Graduate from this earth school to ,,,,?
You seem to be including too high a level of consciousness in your ponderings. Organisms were like little reactive machines when life began. They didn't think or fear. Their electro-chemical responses went from input directly to action, and they had no opinion about it.
