The key to cooking venison is not to OVER cook it. Treat it gently and pull it out of the pan just BEFORE you think it's done, ok?

That being said, sprinkle it with lots of garlic powder, garlic salt, and pepper and fry it just like that in a non stick pan with a little oil.

You can bake them, but I would not recommend the crock pot. While it is good for things like venison stew, chops are often tender enough that they don't require long, slow cooking and I personally feel it is a waste of flavor to do that.

Try a broiled recipe like this one:

or just search on "venison chop recipe" for other really great recipes. Bon apetit!

Marinate them one to two days in advance. My favorite for venison is 1part olive oil to 1/2 part vermouth, 1/2 part lemon juice. add kosher or sea salt, black pepper, garlic and fresh (preferred) or dry parsley to taste.

Afterward they can be broiled, grilled or sauteed in the marinade.

DON'T OVER COOK THE MEAT!

Venison has almost no fat, so it can dry out very quickly hence the marinade .

a fruit sauce pairs well with the venison once cooked. Get a bag of fresh cranberries. In a sauce pan, mix cranberries with 1 cup orange juice, a bit of dry vermouth, 1/2 cup sugar, dash white pepper. let it simmer down into a sauce.

Pair the with roasted harvest vegetables such as butternut squash, beats or parsnips.

You will l have a great feast

My family prefers them skillet fried and covered in gravy. I tenderize them first then soak them in milk for about 30 minutes before dredging in flour and cooking. Venison is really very versitile and can be cooked just about any way you can imagine.. baked, grilled, in the crockpot, etc. Venison also makes an amazing chili.

I make mine using the recipe for chicken fried steaks and they are heavenly. My sister made a deer roast in the crockpot just like she would a pot roast with gravy, potaotes and carrots. It was awesome! To sum, substitute venison in any of your favorite beef recipes and it should be fine. Just be sure to season adequately!

I would marinate them for a couple of days and then grill them lightly but don't overcook.
