I'm a bit confused at why the shelter hasn't already neutered the newcomer. I don't know, but with the rescue I work with, it's a requirement for the animals to be spayed/neutered before they're released to new owners. To help prevent overpopulation. They can be spayed/neutered as early as 2 months old & 2lbs.
Other than that, try to schedule London's neutering sooner, if you feel the need to.
I don't think they'd do spraying, but either way, it's a bunch of crap to wait until they are 6 months old, because it can safely be done before then.

Introducing another cat while the cats you have are still young is a good idea. I don't think the boy will become hostile towards the new male since it is only 8 weeks old. Often times, the older male will take on the "big brother" role and show the new one his ways. I have five cats, and as you can imagine, we didn't get them all at the same time. We introduced two females into our group of two males and a female, and everything turned out fine. The females actually fight eachother more than our males do. Also, give the new cat and your other cats a week or so to get adjusted. The first couple of days, they may not even go near eachother, but have no fear, they will get acustomed and be happy with time.

Well, the cat is not even weaned but. SO,,, Tell the landlord they NEED to hold the kittens till a minimum of 6 weeks. Even at five weeks, such a lot kittens don't seem to be totally weaned, and also you run the threat of demise. Tell the irresponsible, idiotic proprietor that it IS illegalin plenty of areas to promote/rehome dogs or kittens earlier than eight weeks of age, and for a well cause! If they've a enormous concern with it, you ought to touch animal manipulate. Stupid folks will have to now not possess pets. As for the kitten, should you DO get it earlier than eight weeks, take it to the vet ASAP, and they'll consultant you bigger then any one on right here can. Canned meals (rainy meals) is not well for any puppy, allow on my own kittens. It's an good enough deal with, however will have to most effective be fed after your kittens leaves the kitten degree and is a little older. For now, both a in particular formulated kitten milk or a dry kitten kibble. Just get the deficient factor to a vet as quickly as you get it. EDIT: I simply learn your different query. It does not sound like the opposite individual is the unhealthy celebration right here. It feels like YOU are the egocentric, idiotic puppy proprietor. Boo hoo, I do not care that you simply wan't it now. I had my kitten picked out earlier than he used to be born, and I needed to wait thirteen weeks earlier than I acquired him at nine weeks historical. I visited him three occasions every week, and the persistence used to be valued at it, in view that I obtained a healthful, good rounded kitten. If you cannot even supply this kitten the right developmental time, then you definately should not be getting a kitten. End of tale. You've heard eight weeks is the minimal, you KNOW eight weeks is the minimal, quit making excuses.

You usually dont have to worry about spraying too much with kittens. However you do raise a good point. The chances of him being hostile shouldnt be a problem if the people who gave them to you say he is good with other cats. However with the spraying, my advice would be to get him neutered as soon as possible. But if you don't mind getting a female then by all means just do that.

No, the older cat won't even detect the kitten's sex until the kit reaches puberty (at 6-8 months, usually). And the 5 month old probably isn't even mature enough to spray yet. When he does hit puberty, though, he is liable to start spraying regardless of what other cats are around.
