How long is too long to be living together, with kids, living the married life without being married? Why cant men commit? Weve been living together sharing a household for three years. now he wants us to pack up and move back to HIS hometown (were now in my hometown, where hes been living for 10 yrs) but he has not proposed to me yet!! I feel like I shouldnt have to give him an ultimatum, but how else can i get him to understand that i may NOT go with him if he hasnt committed all the way? Im scared that if i tell him how i feel he will take it the wrong way and we would break up and it would be MY fault. Were supposed to be moving in May.sould i not say anything and see if he loves me enough to propose on his own? give him an ultimatum? What should I do? Ladies? Men? HELP!!!!

If you want to marry him, bring up the subject. I cannot believe you haven't already! he's getting all free milk- no purchase of the cow!!

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 1/2 years and living together for 2 1/2. He proposed after 3 1/2 years of dating.

My brother and his ex-wife (she has a daughter) were dating for SIX years (lived together for a few of those years) before he proposed.

Talk to him about it, don't give him an ultimatum. Have you discussed marriage at all?

Do you love each other? If yes, be happy with that.

Also, who says HE has to be the one to ask? Propose to him!

I'm afraid if you have kids and have been together for more than 3 years, you are already considered married in the eyes of the law in many countries.

By "married", do you mean a romantic wedding? a civic ceremony? An outward show of your love and commitment to one another? There is an obvious common-law bond to one another and you will always be connected through your children.

I guess you need to ascertain what exactly you wish of him and then communicate it. If you still disagree after that, it may be time to end things. Good luck.

You guys are already committed. A certificate isn't going to change the relationship. Be happy with the way things are or get ready for him to push you away. You can't rush things and maybe marriage isn't the way it's supposed to be. But so what? You are living a committed life in every respect. Why can't you just be happy??? It sounds like this is more your issue than his.

I agree if he is a good guy and you two are happy then just wait.If you give him a ultimatum then he 'll say or do the complete opposite thing that you hoped for.Just enjoy the relationship you are in.If you can't then you have to let him go. Good luck

sometimes it's better to just be together without marriage. Give him his time. He loves you he just hasn't found the right time yet.
