That's a dilemma. I think the fastest way out is to say that what we call consciousness (the part of me that's thinking of words to write here and refrains from blaspheming gods unnecessarily in the process) is frequently called soul. Because it doesn't seem to be attached to any part of the body we assume it's distinct and separate from the body and therefore survives death. There is no scientific evidence that I'm aware of that consciousness is, in fact, anything but brain activity and hence the 'survives death' and even 'possession' (i.e. whose soul is it, anyhow, not demonic possession) issues are moot.

Soul and spirit can be used interchangeably. You are a person not a soul. However, within your physical body resides a soul.

A soul does not have physical properties like a heart or lungs, it is a source of energy associated with the mind, will, and feelings. It is somewhat like eletricity, you know it is there but you cannot see it. When the electricity goes everything is in darkness, the same goes for the body. When the soul leaves the body that's called death.

There are differences in opinion about what happens when death come along. Some believe that it is the end of life and nothing else happens. Others believe it is the end of life as we know it on earth and that something else happens afterwards.

Some believe in reincarnation in that we come back without memory of this present life (what took place before) and we are here till we perfect outselves before moving on to a different level.

Some believe we become guardian angles whose mission is to help those on earth. They communicate with us without our knowledge by putting thoughts into our mind or showing us signs.

Others who believe in reincarnation believe we come back in another life form so that we can experience how we treated that life form. If you were cruel to animals you will come back as one and feel the same treatment you gave them so that you can become a better entity in the end. In other words, you can only become better if you truly know what it is like to walk in those shoes.

No one really knows the answers so we all speculate and come up with what we feel satisfies us the best.

We are created in the image of God. This image is the image of the trinity which confuses man. We were formed from the dirt and God breathed in his spirit and the two became a living soul. We are not mere flesh and blood but also spirit and the joining of the two makes up a living soul. Animals were created as mere flesh and blood and when it perishes they perish with there flesh. We are created with a spirit and that spirit is The same as married to our flesh it is the reason that the spirit should be over the flesh. the flesh is mortal and perishes. God has a plan for us to joins us with new perfected bodies because our sinful flesh will not enter the kingdom of God. It is demonstrated through the sacrifice provided by Jesus Christ.

Well, I don't think I am a soul. Internally, exhisting within' me there is a soul/spirit. I suspect that when I die I leave this body/shell behind (so that everyone can look at the body/shell) in the casket. My soul/spirit will have moved on to other bigger and better things - of course based on what you believe. The body/shell has to die off (from what I'm told because of Adam & Eve's transgression back in the Garden of Eden) for your soul/spirit to live forever.

No, it's just semantics, just like you have a brain and your brain is you or you have a body and you are your body. In other words either maybe said but they essentially mean the same thing, while sounding like they mean different things.

You could take other interpetations depending on what you beleive a soul and/or spirit to be and or mean. But reguardless of your belief in this case, you are you.

I am a very old soul
I believe there are two ages in a person's life.
The physical age, how many years you have been alive,

And your spiritual age, How long has your spirit been commin to and from this life.

God is making new souls every day, the question is, When did he make MY soul?
And that is an answert I am searching for, and I have to say, the journy is quite fun.

I am my soul.

We are our 'soul'. We have the 'spirit' of the Divine in us, as does all living things.

'Soul' is us when our physical, mental and emotional (personality) aspects are removed.
