This has been a typical complaint on the Camry Brakes for the model years (2002-2006) The brake pedal is soft and does not offer the resistance that is typically expected compared to other vehicles. You can do a search on line and you'll see many people feel the same way about the brakes feel. (It doesn't seem to give good feed back to the user).

I've gotten use to it in my 2003 Camry, but there is nothing wrong with your brakes as long as it's stopping the car.

Yes, my wife has the same car and we noticed the same thing. But I must say the car still stops fine and the brakes were like iron. I just put front brakes on the car after 80,000 miles of my wife very hard driving. You know the kind where you have to drive 60 MPH to get to the red light and then slam the brakes on. And even driving like that the fronts lasted that long and the rears are still good. If I were you I would not lose sleep over the soft brakes. It's a Toyota after all!! Merry Xmas to all.

OK try this before you have the brakes checked

Pull up on the ebrake lever like 50 times this is how the rear brakes are adjusted if your rear brakes are out of adjustment it will give you a low brake pedal.or pull up on the lever and the ebrake should hold the car still after 7 clicks on the lever. if brake pedal still feels low or spongy take and have it checked for leaks and bleeded. Thanks

I have a 2005 XLE V6 model. I noticed that the brakes don't give very much feedback, however they do have a lot of stopping power.

It could be your master cylinder going bad, a small hole in the brake line, or your brake shoes are low.
