She asked how he gets in houses w/out fireplaces, when I told her he was magic she said no way, he uses the door. How do I help her spirit of Christmas? Or should I tell her the truth?

Agree that he must use the door. Nothing wrong with her questions. Shows that she's intelligent.
Don't tell her the truth about Santa yet. She needs the little bit of magic that Santa brings.
You can help her keep the Christmas spirit in many ways. Maybe help her make a special gift for someone. Help her choose a thoughtful gift at the store, etc. Help her make cookies for Santa. Read to her about Christmas. Sing Christmas songs with her.

Well, Santa isn't really the "spirit of christmas". I always thought it was about being with your family and doing what you can for others. It is kind of sad that people think they can't enjoy the holidays without getting gifts from a magic elf.
Now, I am not saying you should go and ruin it for her. But, I just wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds like she believes he uses the door if you don't have a fireplace.
If you want her to still believe in Santa Claus.....take a boot and put some dirt on it and stamp it on the floor.....in the morning when she sees it, she will believe that Santa Claus was there.

tell her the truth about what i dont understand? How does he get into houses with no fireplaces I never thought about that I dont have a fireplace either but I always get some presents.

The spirit of christmas isnt freakin santa clause. Why cant materialistic people get that through thier thick heads. Tell her santa isnt real, it saves grief for later. Besides it sounds like she already knows.

NO don't tell her the truth. Just tell her, in order to get presents from Santa you have to believe. If you don't believe then he won't leave you any. Which is true, if you don't believe in Santa you only get presents from mommy and daddy.. (well an of course everyone else) But my daughter is 7 and she asks me the same thing, and I tell her if you believe you will receive and if you dont you won't. It keeps her believing.

i think you should tell her the truth. Sometimes children's hearts get broken when you don't tell them the truth right away. And that is when they start to distrust you. To let her feel a part of Christmas you could let her help wrap or help chose some gifts(that aren't for her).

If you feel that this would add depth and meaning to her life then try to encourage it. Belief in the magical can encourage creativity.
I've never believed in lying to children. I was absolutely DEVASTATED when I found out. I swore I would never do the same to my children. As the old saying goes, "This can only end in tears." and disappointment that the person you love and trust most in the world would lie to you.

heck i never believed in Santa, nothing wrong with that. She seems like a bright kid with an inquiring mind who doesn't settle for simple answers (sign of intelligence), be upfront and tell her the truth.

I wouldn't tell her. She may be a little cynical but it sounds like she still believes he exists. Maybe you could have a friend of yours call and pretend to be Santa. Then he could talk to her about her and her family and possibly ask about something he brought last year. "Are you still playing with that doll I brought you last year?" Something along that line.
