Isn't it just outrageously coincidental that before I submitted this post it was automatically put into the Cultural Group calle LGTB??? Now I KNOW without a doubt they are pro-immorality!

So what if there were no laws against murder, rape, incest, polygamy, pedophilia, etc.? Where does one draw the line to protect the children, protect families in society? When does the license to sin become an infringement upon other's liberties not to have it forced upon the minds of their children as "it is legal so it must be moral" and aren't we already there to a large degree?

Rachel and Earl, those to me would be inappropriate extremes to legislate. Legalizing dope and prostitution for our children are far more dangerous than them seeing the homeless who are possibly drug addicts or alchalholics who burned their minds out on drugs. Neither of those approaches are a "curative" but might help in "prevention" which is worth a pound of cure when we have to pay for the criminal, physical, financial, and mental fallouts of the symptoms of leglized sins run amock.

I tend to be on your side. Without any morality people tend to degenerate into chaos.

You're actually talking about regulating.

Such as, to take an example, prostitution as a legalized immority where the girls are all tested daily as are the "Johns" and there are fresh private rooms and armed security guards and panic buttons to protect the girls. Then every man or woman gets to have sex on demand their way, discreetely, safely, with a partner from a reasonable source of choices.

Or the Neitherland hash bars where you can go inside and buy $5 worth of hash and knock your socks off all day, so long as you don't take it with you.

We already call this a Bar in America or a Pub in Britian. You go inside and wiz the night away.

Many states already allow people to have a little pot quazi legally so long as it is at home and they don't get caught buying it.

I read a report that Marijuana is the #1 cash crop in America. Illegal, but still the #1 cash crop. If government legalized it and taxed it maybe they wouldn't raise other taxes so much and so fast (well we can dream right).

Methadone is another legislated immorality.

The way legislating morlity goes is like the Amish communities. You must obey all the rules or your get thrown out into the woods.

That's the way it was in olden times too, if you didn't get your head axed, they threw you out of the City of Paris or Berlin, which had walls around them so no one could get in.

But then you face the Rambo mentality and if Rambo bands together he becomes Atillah the Hun and comes back to Paris with 50,000 horny guys who want all the wine and women and can tear down the walls and kill off the 8,000 Paris Police force.

That's why the Chinese built a wall hundreds of miles long, hundreds of feet tall and hundreds of feet thick. Even Godzilla would have a terrible time with that gauntlet.

How would one legislate immorality? A law that states everyone must have orgies? there is no erring on one side or the other if we do not legislate laws based on one groups ideas of morality. All laws should be based on civil liberties if I have not infringed on yours and you have not infringed on mine than we are free to decide for ourselves what is moral according to our own beliefs for instance I am a Christian and I believe sex outside of marriage is a sin but I understand that all people to not share my faith therefore I am opposed to law that says that those who have sex outside of marriage should be punished by my government. Edit: Where should we draw the line? We should draw the line where our civil liberties have been infringed on. Not my idea of morality or yours.

Obedience to Gods will and forced obedience is not the same thing. I have my own personal views on what is moral and what is immoral but who am I to try to impose those values on anyone else! Judge not and ye shall not be judged, for the measure in which you judge others so shall ye be judged. I am all for limiting how much the Government can regulate our daily lives and believe each person must make his or her decisions in how they want to live their life. Jesus NEVER condemned anyone neither will I.

Can you define morality in this context? I believe, for example, what we are doing in Iraq is completely immoral. I believe it is immoral to allow people to go hungry and sleep in the street. Should we legislate that?

First off, there are no "laws" against sinning. Show me a Law on the books where I can't eat too much, or drink too much! No where in any law book does it say that! So stop trying to say its illegal to sin, it is not! Besides, ITS FUN!

Whose morality? Whose immorality? I believe you should go to Iran or some other country in the Middle East if you like your laws to dictate morality.

Legislating morality is nothing more than governmental enforcement of religious doctrine as unconstitutional theocratic law.

Morality is subjective. What is moral to you may be immoral to somebody else.
