I'm 18 years old. I have a nine year old poodle mix. I want to adopt another dog to keep him company. We've lived in this house for over 10 years and all of his friends have moved or died or something. What kind of dog is good with other dogs and is perferably under 15 lbs?

I would stick with the poodle mixes. Poo mixes are healthy and usually have a good personality, not to mention the non shedding factor. Search the different breed characteristics at a number of breed sights, then decide what you like and dont like. When you have settled on what fits you best, start looking in shelters and rescues. http://www.petfinder.com is a great place to start. Poodle mixes also seem to get along well with all dogs. Good luck.

Definitely just search the local shelters & rescues for the perfect small dog. Don't worry about breeds or gender. Find the ones that catch your eye, and in most cases, the shelters/rescues will set up a time & place for your dog to meet the one you are interested in. If all works out, take the new dog home. :)

If I were you, I would not worry about breeds and stuff like that. Just go to the shelter and wait until you absolutely fall in love with a doggy. Then just take it home. Your current poo could get a little jealous but they outgrow it. It happened to me when I introduced my new dog (mix) with my poodle. The poo was a little mad at first but now they can;t live without each other

Actually maybe you should think outside the poodle box. I have a mini poodle and a catahoula mix. And they go great together. SO maybe you should try something along the lines of a wiener dog or a Scottish terrier.

I would be sure and get one that is smaller now and will remain fairly small. Your poodle will need to get his bluff in on the new dog and u don't want your dog to get hurt from the new dog. I would go for a Shihtzu mix or something small. Big dogs take a lot of work and time.

You would probably want another poodle or poodle mix. Check the local animal shelter first, though: You might find a dog you like there to keep your first friend company.

Good luck!

It all depends! I am sure that if you look at your nearest shelter you will find plenty of dog and mixes that need good homes!

I own a Dachshund and I love him so much! Dachshunds are fun and not too hard to take care of.

But, always do your research on which dog would be best for your family!

I think the greatest dogs are the ones you find at the pound or shelter. I adopted a dog last year and he's absolutely perfect. He has beagle and jack russel in him and he is the friendliest little guy ever.

I think you may really enjoy a cat paired with a self-cleaning litter box...they even have one that doesn't use litter, it sanitises it self with a cleaning solution...I think it's called Scoop Free, and you don't even have look at it for 30 days...
