As man is, God once was and as God is, man may become. This is called the law of eternal progression. God knows us because He has been there. That necessarily means that He had a God that He worshipped as well. One day, if we live worthy to join God in His heavenly realm, we may also be blessed with the ability to create worlds and people them with our spirit children. I know this is not an orthodox belief but it is infinitely logical. God is eternal from our perspective because our perspective is so limited. As far as we are concerned, He is the only God that matters for our existence and hopefully, exaltation. Therefore, there is no conflct between the scripture or the teaching. He tells us what we need to know to get us through the mortal experience. When we return to His presence, we will learn much more about His existence and our own future existence.

some notions about mithraism are misrepresented. He was not born of a virgin but miraculously from a rock.. Also, while there are some similarities it does not predate christianity by 900 years. Rather its rituals were mostly documented for the first time in the first or the second century AD. It was not a well documented religion due to the secretive nature of the religion. They are commonly thought to be a form of gnosticism.

More likely they stole some things from christianity to conform to the times given that they were outlawed by rome around 340AD.

In answer to your question. God is, was, and laways will be.

The current Christian God is also the same God worshiped in Judaism, and Islam so people have been worshiping him for thousands of years. Early Christians split off from Judaism and Islam was directly influenced by both the Old Testament and early Christian writings. Unfortunately God’s message to humanity and mans interpretation of his message are seldom one in the same.

A lot of people that were polytheists, who had never heard of the Christian God.

Then one day, Monotheism becomes the religion du jour (really a decision by a couple Emperrors of Rome in the 4th century), and through either conquest or conversion, dominates the world for the next 2 millenium.

What Pagans refer to as the Old Religion. Every culture had their variation on the same theme. And if you study these religions, what will surprise is the fact that peoples of various cultures and nations visualized the same gods even though they had no physical contact with each other.

A great deal of Pagan practice was taken and applied to monotheism. If you look at the wedding ceremonies of various religions, you will see traditions like the breaking of the wine glass in the Jewish ceremony, having its roots in the Pagan hand-fasting; the Pagan wedding ceremony.

In short, Christian, Jew, Muslim, they all have their roots solidly planted in Paganism.

Nothing

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Mithraism.

The cult myth of Mithras is almost exactly like the cult myth of christ. God impregnates woman, virgin birth, apostles teaching the messiah's word, tortured and murdered, rises from death and goes to heaven.

All the same. It predates christ by 900 years.

the myth of christ is a false myth taken from an earlier cult myth.

there are many older religions that existed before the christian cult started too. including paganism.

Nothing. Christianity did not exist. Paganism existed long before Christianity reared its ugly head.
