Why is it our problem??

My local paper, as I'm sure everyones is this time of year, is running these tear jerking, heart strings pulling stories about local needy families. And asking for donations to help these needy families. Now, I sympathize with people that have just generally been dealt a bad hand. Serviceman widows and such. But a recent story was this woman, with five children under the age of 9, and pregnant with her 6th child, who was having a difficult pregnancy and couldnt work so they wanted all of us to go buy the kids something and donate to put them all in a new house. There were 4 different dads to these kids, 2 on the run, 1 in prison, and one actually paying child support. IM beyond ******* sick of being asked to support these women that cant use protection, get knocked up by deadbeats and then want everyone else to support their babies. If you know you cant support a child and are against abortion, then either use protection or give it up for adotption. Stop asking for handouts. ugh.

I feel the same way. I was a single mother of 2 young girls and never asked for anything. I worked everyday because if I didn't there wouldn't be any food or clothing or heat etc. I have read in my local paper some of the same kind of stories and I am sorry that some of these people are having such a bad time but my life isn't exactly a bowl of cherries and I work to support myself. There are agencies that can help these people they need to go to one of these places and get the help they think they deserve.

This is exactly why I contribute to the Humane Society and other animal charities. I get so tired of reading and hearing these sob stories. Natural consecquences should come into play here and this woman should be forced to take some responsibility for her actions and be holding a pitty party because she made the choice to lay on her back. Cry me a river, build a bridge and deal with it!! There are alot of people in the same boat and they don't ask for handouts.

I feel bad for the children. They deserve better than to be treated like a burden to society.

There's always going to be people in the world who rely on others.

They have a place in the world, just as you have yours. Everything is as it should be at this moment. What happens in the next two minutes, days, years, etc...well, that's your choice.

Don't worry about other people's issues. Worry on your own. Its not your problem, unless you make it your problem.

What you should realize is that these people are asking for donations in order to give to the children, these poor little tykes didn't ask to be born. I guess I'd have to say it's to test your limit of charity remember charity starts at home. What's closer to home than those children in your community, you don't have to give, save your money if that's how you feel. But! please don't shoot down a good deed even though you don't agree with it.

I'm with you. My son is mentally handicapped but knows about birth control and holding down a job. There were several years my kids didn't get a Christmas, but we always had our own food on the table.

You're right about the woman, obviously she shouldn't be taking advantage like this. But the reason it's good for you to help is because of her children. It's not their fault that their "Mother" is an irresponsible slut who's never heard of birth control, why should they suffer because of her?
