A christianing is a ceremony in which a person is given a name.

Baptism is a sacrament in which a person is forgiven of all sins, he or she is made a new creation in Christ, and the person is made a member of the Body of Christ.

Christening = Sprinkling a baby's head with water
Baptism = Fully emersing somebody in water

Neither will save a person but...

Christening is more of a symbol of the parents saying that they will raise the child in a Christian home. Almost like a baby dedication.

Baptism is a symbol of a personal decision to accept Christ. Baptism happens after you are saved. Baptism makes a public statement that you are saved.

Good question. A lot of people get this confused. Some grown folks say that they don't need to be born again (Baptized) since they were already baptized (Christened) when they were a baby. Not so. Christened is having your baby blessed whereas being baptized is being fully emerged into water (not sprinkled) and having full knowledge that Jesus is Lord and that you are dying with him so that you can live in him. Hope that helps.

Christening is for children and a few drops of water get sprinkled.

Baptism is for adults and often, but not always, involves full emmersion in water. Round here some churches do baptisms where you walk into the sea, other churches dunk you in a vat of water or you just put your face in into the church font.

Baptism- is generally when an adult is submerged in water usually the whole body to invite them into the Church

Christening- is generally when a baby or small child has holy water splashed upon their head to invite them into the Church.

They are both the same thing as it is inviting both into the Church however just based on the ease in which this can be done. As it would be impractical to submerge a baby in water for any amount of time.

Catholics get christened. Church of England get Baptised.
I would think the procedure is the same - drops of water over babies heads, few religious words, people promising to be good god parents then forgetting to be.

Christening is about two weeks after a child is born the parents take him/her to their church. (Its the catholics mostly do this) they will take the baby, and put water on his/her forhead, and welcome him to the faith, and will "christen" his/her name upon him.

Baptizim is when usually as an adult, or yong teen, you make the discion to be a christian. And as a procamation of faith, you are baptized infront of witnesses... You go under the water as your old self, and you are showing that under the water you are dying to that self. And when you come up, you are a new person, totally commited to God.

I hope I answered your question...
God bless you, and merry Christmas
