Good question. I think there is some confusion about what a 'prophesy' should entail. It is not the same as an educated guess. Nor should prophesy be confused with a line from a fortune cookie or newspaper horoscope, intentionally written to be so vague that it could apply to anything. Likewise, something that is blatantly obvious, like "the sun will rise tomorrow", is not a prophesy.
Let's examine a situation in which a prophecy might mean something. Suppose some ancient text contained a prediction that a meteor the size of a goat would crash into a Walmart in Lincoln, Nebraska exactly 4,521 years and 2 months from the day the prediction was made. If that prediction came true, I would be willing to consider that the author of said prophesy had received insight from a supernatural source. Why? Because meteors do not read books. Even if that particular Walmart, or even the city of Lincoln, Nebraska was built specifically to help fulfill the prophesy, there is no plausible scientific explanation for that level of accuracy, on an event that cannot be orchestrated by any human method.
My reading of the Bible has found it curiously lacking in this type of prophesy, although it certainly abounds with fortune-cookies and bloody obvious guesses.

The idea that things could be predicted to occur proves nothing.
For one natural disasters can not be considered anything but the natural cycles of the earth. In every generation there is at least one if not more natural disasters.
Next the idea of certain people doing things that fit the mental picture people have of a devil or antichrist proves nothing! There will always be some people who for whatever reason are screwed up in the head and do some very evil crap!
The idea of a Jesus returning has got to be the dumbest idea ever presented. Even if this Jesus figure would return right now what exactly could he do and NOT remove human freewill?
At best this Jesus could say if you do A, B, & C then you will get D. However if people try to Skip step A and flip steps C & B then they will not get D. People always try to find ways to justify the desires they have.
In the end it all comes down to the results we get are do to the actions / choices we make! There is no Pink Monkey needed! We have the power to make our lives anyway we want!

interior the prophesies of Jeremiah and Isaiah state the advent of Jesus Christ, plus the way he might come. around this time, a guy's word meant each and every thing. in case you lied, you ought to be stoned. If what replaced into written approximately Jesus have been incorrect, there does not be a clean Testement. there have been many witnesses of his miracles and Resuretion, if it have been fake, people might have stepped up and reported it quite did no longer take place and that it wasn't actual. The prophesies of the previous Testment have been fulfilled via Jesus, like his delivery and Resurection

Prophesy is history written in advance. And contrary to popular opinion, these prophesies were not so vague that anything could be considered fulfillment of them.
That these prophesies have been fulfilled proves that they were not written solely by man, but by God speaking to the prophet.
For example, before Jesus was born, Old Testament writers spoke of Him. These prophetic Scriptures discussed the coming "Anointed One." The Hebrew word for anointed one is Messiah, and the corresponding Greek word is Christ. Thus, the Scriptures that discuss the coming Messiah or Christ are called Messianic Prophecies.
According to Alfred Edersheim, a biblical scholar, there are more than 456 of these prophecies in the Old Testament. It is only in Jesus of Nazareth that these Scriptures are fulfilled

Well, If they are true, then there are a number of extremely important issues that mankind must accept.
It speaks of:
Where did man and all of creation come from.
What is the purpose of the human Life.
Where will I go when I die.
These are the basic questions that every person is seeking for. The Bible clearly answers these questions.

It only proves that the people that wrote the NT read the OT before they began writing.

It proves that prophecy is sure and true, and from God.
This proves that what happened in the first Century, will be replayed in modern times, for us, but in a different way.
Jesus went in to Hell, for us.

It proves that the writers of the NT did a good job referencing. Not like the inconsistencies in sequels like Highlander II.

Well, also... seeing as how the prophecies were written by the Jews, not by the Christians... I would tend to rely on their interpretation of whether they were fulfilled or not.... :)
Good thing I'm an atheist. Otherwise, I'd feel like a bleeding idiot.
