It will depend on your strength if you are seasoned runner you will master it quickly than someone who doesn't run always . It is better in the afternoon because it is usually not as cold as the mornings . For best results you need a stop watch .Just run for two kms and see how you master them, then if you are happy , aim for 5ks ..always check the time you finish your distance to ensure you are running not "walking".Do that untill you master it .On the folowing week aim for ten .same thing .Next time aim for 20 .Repeat in the mornig if you can. Then one day just aim for 20 miles and see what will happen .Check time you finished it as it is unwise just to run not knowing time that you can finish that distance .

I think you should run 3-4 days a week this Summer. One of those days should be longer than the others. Do that run on the coolest day! You'll need 3-4 days to build your cardiovascular strength and to allow you to transition to some longer runs as cooler air comes in the Fall. Try a 5k or 10k after 6 weeks of running or so; this is a great confidence builder!

When it gets cooler aim for a 15k or perhaps a Half-Marathon in October. Do another in November and then another 8k or 10k in December (if the weather permits; i.e. its not too slippery on the roads). You'll conquer the 20 miler.
