You have 8 pills and they are all the same shape,size,colour, and taste. But 1 pill is poisonous and you have to find that pill.
You get to use a scale, but can only use it twice. How do you find the poisonous pill?

Step 1:
Label each pill from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, to 8.
Step 2:
Place pills 1, 2, and 3 on one side of the scale, and pills 4, 5, and 6 on the other side of the scale.
If the scale is balanced, proceed to Step 3.
If the scale is not balanced, skip Step 3, and proceed to Step 4.
Step 3:
Remove all the pills from the balance.
Place pill 7 on one side of the scale, and pill 8 on the other side of the scale.
The heavier one is the poisonous pill.
Step 4:
Assume pills 1, 2, and 3 are heavier than pills 4, 5, and 6.
Remove all the pills from the balance.
Place pill 1 on one side of the scale, and pill 2 on the other side of the scale.
If the scale is balanced, then pill 3 is the poisonous pill.
If the scale is not balanced, then the heavier one is the poisonous pill.

Put 4 pills on each side....which ever is heavier, that's the one the poison pill is on. Take those four and put two on each side. Now you are left with just a 50/50 chance. Good Luck!

By finding the heaviest one. I'd put 4 of the pills on one side of the scale & the other 4 on the opposite side. I'll keep taking off pills until i have the heaviest one, Get it?

Just check out my approach.......
Label the pills 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.......
make 4 groups----(1,2),(3,4),(5,6),(7,8)
on the scale put (1,2) on side and (3,4) on other side......
if they are not balanced goto step 1
If they come out to be balanced then put the other 2 groups also 1 on each side. Take the group which made scale heavier..and goto step 1
Step 1:-take the heavier group only and put seperately on the scale and the heavier 1 is poisonous..

Rather then using a scale you time how lond it takes to push them all a certain distance using an equal amount of force for each. The heavier poisonous pill will take longer.
Alternatively you could drop all of them and time how long it takes for them to hit the ground.
Or, if possible you way them by feel in the palm of your hand.

you get 8 rats and feed all 8 pills to them which ever one falls over ate the pill, next u cut open the rat and get the pill. Why ??...i dont know...or u can just leave it..

I'll take a stab at this.
Weigh 4 pills at a time, whichever batch is heavier, get a friend to try them one at a time until he dies.

you split them up into two groups of four, find the heviest group and split those up into two groups of two, then you put one in your hand switch them and see which one it the heveist.
