The higher the thread count the better. I have 600's but have never seen 1000. It must be like sleeping on a baby's butt. I pay about $200 for them on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Try egytian cotton towels too. Nothing like spoiling yourself with quality personal items. The best advise is always the best advice, no matter what the purchase is, buy one set of good sheets instead of three sets of mediocre quality. One set of good towels is better than a whole closet full of cheap ones.

it has more to do with thread count. the higher the thread count the better and softer the sheet. egyptian cotton is generally a high thread count. usually, the higher the thread count the more $$ it will be, but they last a lot longer. you can usually get good sheets at sears or penny's or macy's. any store that is middle of the line-top of the line. i doubt wal mart would have any high counts.

Your source was right! I prefer a 900 thread count, it is a good set of sheets to start with you will never go back to the 250 count.

I really like the Pure Beech sheets. They're really soft and stretchy.
