When SHE can DECIDE. Do NOT do so until she is old enough to make that decision. That is very cruel in my opinion. When she is 12 or 13, she will be able to make up her mind and decide if the pain is worth the GAIN!

That is really a personal choice for the parent(s) and/or the child. I wanted to wait until my daughters were old enough to ask for it themselves and to understand that it may be permanent. My ears were pierced when I was eight and the holes have never closed even though I have not worn earrings for years. My older daughter just got hers pierced last month, she is 6 1/2. She noticed that all the other girls at school had them and asked if she could have them also.

I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was 3 months old. For me, I knew being a female at some point in her life she would want it done, and when she was that young I could clean them without having to hold her down. Honestly, she really didn't cry that much. She was asleep in her stroller, and when the gun popped it scared her. I picked her up, and she hushed right then.
My mom got my ears pierced when I was around 5. After I got the first one done, I didn't want her to finish. I was scared to death. They got infected because I was suppose to clean them my self, and I didn't do a good job.
I agree with everyone else though, it's really a decision you have to make on your own. Just wanted to give you some friendly advice on why I pierced my daughter's at a young age.

My daughters did no longer get their ears pieced until they have been 14 (-ish) by using fact my spouse ok'd it - i could have made them wait until they have been sixteen. (That substitute into interior the early 80's) I agree that 9 is purely too youthful yet could no longer extremely say what's the superb age. in all possibility around 12? I agree, ear piercings on very youthful babies can look cheesy.

I will wait until my little girl wants to get her ears pierced. I wanted to get my ears pierced when I was five years old. That's when I got it done. I never really cared about it until then.

Some parents say when they are born and some agree with me. Really--it's up to you. You'll know what time is right.

well, i know that they must be older than 3 months, but i hope to have a girl, and I i will do it when she turns 3 months! Little girls are soooo cute with their ears pierced, also, the younger the better... their ears are still really soft, so it wont hurt as bad. I recommend doing it now if she is older than 3 months.

My personal preference is when the child is old enought to ask for it, and take responsibility for the care of them. I realize in some cultures it is common for infants to have their ears pierced when they are really tiny, but if you don't have that traditional aspect to consider, why push something on a baby, who may not want the procedure at all? My niece is 11 and a bit of a tomboy, and my sister in law wants her to get her ears pierced but she wants no part of it. Her 8 year old sister is dying to get hers done, but they want her to wait till she's 10, because she's a careless little slob and they don't trust her to care for them herself..... so everyone is different.

i got mine done when i was born. i dont think theres an "appropiriate age" it all depends on you and how you feel about it. or you and the father. for me personally i know if and when i have a girl those ears will be pierced right away!

Some children are very prone to ear infections. I think having her ears peirced might make her hurt herself if she is pulling on her ears during an ear infection (as many small children do). I waited until I was nineteen to have mine done and they bled for months.

I was not allowed to get my ears pierced until I was 16. I would say, when she is old enough that you think she can take care of them by herself, and know if she has an infection.

I was 5, but I agree with the people saying when she's old enough to want them. I remember asking my mom every single day when I was 4 if I was 5 yet so I could get them done.
