You can give them spot baths at any time. This would be just like wiping them wipe a damp wash cloth, or a baby wipe.

Otherwise, wait until they are at least 3 weeks of age for a full bath. Make sure the water is lukewarm and you use puppy shampoo! Also, blow dry them on a low setting with the blow dryer at least 12 inches away so they don't catch a chill.

According to the sites I found - only when necessary. So very rarely should you even bathe an adult but they should be brushed daily. Hope some of this helps you.

Care and Training: The Short-haired Chihuahua should be brushed gently or wiped with a damp cloth. The Long-haired Chihuahua should be brushed daily with a soft bristle brush. Bathe your Chihuahua only when necessary. Check your Chihuahua ears regularly and keep their nails trimmed. A Chihuahua should be socialized early. Minimal exercise is required for both variety of the Chihuahua.

I'd say probably around the time when they're running around on their own and eating dry food.

Of course, if you've got a particularly dirty puppy who's still quite young, I'd recommend a warm sponge bath. Dry him or her off with a blow dryer set on low - you don't want them getting cold afterwards.

wow, check out this site, it's great info chihuahua owners.....

http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/breeds/1100072/

they say not to bathe a puppy until it's soft fluff fur is finally undercoat.... that's hard to tell sometimes..... i'd wait at least until it's 2 months old and had all of it's distemper shots (to date). you're not supposed to bathe a dog until it's had it's distemper shots cuz it can get sick.

hope this helps!! good luck!!
