OK, obviously I need to add that this is not what I think, but refers to an answer I saw earlier. Thanks.

LOL. You're so cute with your little clown nose!

Oh, and of course there are other reasons. Would it be appropriate to post a link from a related website? Here are FIFTY (50) proofs against the bible, some strong, some weak, all logical. (These guys also publish the site about amputees you're making reference to in the question.)

Those would be the furthest reasons for why. What does Mithraism have to do with Atheism? This is not a simple answer that can be answered on here. If you really truly want to know get a book on it. Seriously. It doesn't mean you have to be an atheist. They are actually great books and at least if you read them you'd understand and knwo what you were talking about.

I recommend...

"Letter to a Christian Nation" - Sam Harris
"Atheism: The Case Against God" - George Smith
"Why Atheism" - George Smith

Truthfully it mostly comes down to a lack of evidence. Atheism is not a religion or a positive believe in god's non-existance. It's a label for people that LACK a belief in god because they do not see enough evidence to support such a belief. The explanations behind this can get very involved though so that is why I recommend the books. "Atheism" is actually a term that should not even exist but we use it for convenience in speech.

No, The reason i dont believe in any supernatuaral jesus or god character is because MAN invented these characters and then wrote about them in a self proclaimed "holy book"

This same "holy book" thinks that the earth is the center of the universe. (which it is not) This indicates (again) that man made this book using his owned limited intelligence.

In a 1000 years or so the bible will be "just another holy book" that got it all completely wrong, much like the greek and egyptian religions before it. Take xtainity or islam, they will come and go like all "religions" have done before them.

The bible would would be the most incredible book ever produced *IF* god had actually wrote it... the inaccuaracies in that book show that it has NOTHING to do with any "gods" or supernatuaral forces whatsoever

I am an "atheist" because i live my life in the REAL world not from some hand me down book that is full of hearsay, superstition and inaccuaracies.

Mithraism? That’s one freaking old religion that was present in ancient Rome. Why do you bring it up?

Amputees? that's specific. hmmm

No I don't believe in the Christian god because it makes no sense to me. Not logical. The bible contradicts itself thereby proving itself wrong. There are a plethora of reasons not to delude yourself with religion.

Wow, this is an interesting question. I'd love to understand the thought process behind it.

Mithraism - the following of a Zoroastrian belief of Ahura Mazda and his son Mithras (also known as the "Roman God of Soldiers").

Predating Judaism by nearly 800 years and centered around ancient Bablyonia....

Amputees?
You got me there..... I have no idea

WOW I get a kick out the bible fearing people ..

Because we want 100% proof of anything we are wrong . heck I would even settle for 85% proof that this man walked in the land and healed people by touching them and that and I might just might change my belifes but till then I will believe what I want till proven to be wrong and to persucute people due to there beliefs is wrong and if you are a god fearing person then you would not persucue a person on behalf of there beliefs or you would have a sheltered and lonely life

Nope! In addition to Mithraism demonstrating that the Jesus character and the messiah story is NOT original, and the fact that NO amount of praying regenerates the absent limbs of amputees, the gOd concept is, to put it mildly, incomprehensible in many ways and, in other ways, impossible.

Man, this one is confusing to me!
The first word I do not know what it is.
The second, well, I am a Christian and an amputee, I personally believe God saved me the day the prop ate my leg. What could it possibly have to do with not being a believer?

Nope. While those arguments are valid, they aren't the reason for me at all. I do not believe in any God, gods, or supernatural beings because they lack necessity. They are not necessary to explain anything, and serve no purpose.

No. I don't believe in God for the same reason I don't believe in unicorns or faeries in my garden or Santa Claus or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. There's stories for all of those, but no evidence. No proof. No necessity. Why would I believe in something that seems impossible and has no evidence for its existence?
