Me and other people in my household have just gotten over the common cold. I was just wondering if your body can fight against the virus for a little while before being able to easily catch it again.

The chances are actually very good. A cold isn't just from one virus, but many, that keep mutating as I understand it. This is one reason why they can't get a vaccine for the common cold. Just like they have many types of flu, it's the same for a cold. Same symptoms, but different viruses. Best of luck to you.

the common cold is a virus. Once have a virus and get rid of it your buddy builds up an immunity to that one strand of virus. The chances of you getting that one strand back is slim to none. The common cold mutates very quickly so therefore you could get another strand of it or a mutated strand of it that your body has not built an immunity against. Hope that helps.

The virus mutates, so you can easily catch the cold again, becasue it's actually a different cold.

Your chances of catching another cold depend on your personal hygene and environment. If you go around putting your bare hands on door knobs and then sticking your fingers in your eyes or nose, your chances of catching something are very high. Washing your hands frequently with soap and water will lessen your chances.
