The best answer is a gift with cash as well.
Hairstylist try to make us happy all year long.
If you want to be that important client that always gets an appointment no matter what...Money and gifts open doors that would amaze you. Including great hair color and hair styles that say your important and close to your hairstylist. Plus if you send friends to your hairstylist it's a big thanks too

if you go to a salon and have a "regular girl" that you see, you should tip what you feel is appropriate...a column in our local paper here suggested that the proper amount for a hairstylist or a manicurist was the price of a single visit in addition to the cost for the service that you are having performed around the holidays. the rest of the year, the figure i have heard is 20%

I usually tip about 10-15 bucks extra depending on how well I like the hairdo - of course nothing if I hate it... but I do understand the time and effort it takes to fix my hair so I generally try to be good about tipping. Hairdo is usually about $50

Really the holiday doesn't effect my tip that much however. I know that its nice to have extra money around the holidays but its also hard to come up with extra to tip with!

It depends on what I had done. I never considered that the holidays played into the tip factor. I try to tip good. I don't like cheap people.
