I know, but has now become a breed because it has been bred so much. I have one. She is a Border collie austrillian sheperd mix. What is that breed?

It is called a mutt, we have one too. There are many in our area working on ranches right now. We got him from a five thousand acre ranch. He was/is hurt so he can not work. Attacked by coyotes when small.
To my understanding this is not a breed yet, just a mutt. Australian shepherds have been around since the 1800's but have not been considered a real breed for two long.
This mix turns out so different I can not see it being a breed for some time either. Forget our English Mastiff that is 170 pounds or so, or our Saint Bernard as a protector, when peeps come onto our property and are scared of the big dogs I tell them to be careful of him, the Aussie/border collie mix!! He is way more apt to get a stranger then the big dogs....

It's a MUTT. Plain and simple. Not an Australian Collie or a Border Shepherd. People just make up dog breeds as they go along.

An Australian Collie is not a breed recognized by the AKC so it's not a "real" dog breed.

It's just a mutt with a fancy name, a half breed, a mutt.

Where did you hear that a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix is now a new breed "because it's been bred so much"??

What you have is a mix. Simple. Period. Can't think of a plainer way to put it. I'm sure she's a wonderful dog!

ADDED:
Ah, "Australian Collie" -- cleverly created from the names of the two breeds used, not unlike Labradoodle or Chi-Pom. Just another designer mix, then? Do the Australians acknowledge that they have produced a Collie (a traditional UK dog)?

Good luck with your "world agility".

Excellently put, Miriam!

>>>but has now become a breed because it has been bred so much<<<

Bwahahahahaha! Tell me another one. People have been claiming for years that cockapoos are a breed too, but saying it doesn't make it so.

You have a mutt. A nice mutt, I'm sure, but a mutt. What's wrong with mutts that you people feel the need to give them a fancy name and call them a breed? Isn't a mutt good enough?

And if you were a "world agility dog trainer" you wouldn't need to come on here asking what exercises you need to do to prepare for competition. http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjY.ozfWQQRvcEgdjY_7z0TAFQx.?qid=20061001100840AAnuvwu

(snort!) Don't think you can pull the wool over the eyes of those of us who actually DO know what we're talking about.....

Edit: You can find pictures of cockapoos and puggles too, still doesn't mean they're a breed. It's just a cutesy name given to a MUTT.

What have you got against mutts?

That's not a breed, just a mix of two breeds. You can't get any paperwork on a mixed breed dog. Tho I have to imagine that the dog potentially could still do well as a Herding/Agility/Obedience dog--just can't participate in any kind of AKC sanctioned events.

Edit: Sorry, that is NOT A BREED, it is a MIX/MUTT, period. Can you get this dog registered with the AKC or UKC? No, and that's because it's not a recognized breed. Sorry, not a breed, a mix and probably a great dog, but not a REGISTERABLE BREED, at least not with any reputable registries.

You already answered your own question it is a Border Collie/Aussie mix. More than 2 breeds in the dog would be a mutt.
Which personally think are the best dogs you can have.

It is a mix as you stated. If you are an agility person, then you should know a little more on breeds. I mean, puggles are cute dogs but at the end of the day you still have a pug/beagle cross. Same applies here.

Mutt.

EDIT...You seem very hostile. Goodness! You need to learn to accept even the things you don't want to hear.

Oh, and watch what we say to you because you're a world agility trainer? That's a little arrogant for someone asking questions on Yahoo Answers, don't ya think? All that says to me is that (if it's true) you should have been able to answer your own question...

Mutt. There's no such thing as a breed from a mix. Purebreds are best because they have fewer health worries than mixes.
