If it's just Yahoo sites that are slow, that means it's Yahoo's server and not your computer that's causing it. At this time of day, there are probably a lot of people visiting the Yahoo pages, and every time someone visits a page, Yahoo's server has to send the info to them. So if tons of people are visiting their pages, the server is working extra hard and slows down a little.

It depends of several factors: if your computer doesn't have enough DDR memory it won't be able to handle several tasks at the same time 1Gb is a very decent memory 2 Gb is awesome! Also it depends of how much memory you have in your hard disk and if you maintain your hard disk properly (defragmented, get rid of cookies an files off line,) if you have big files you are much better off if you get an external hard disk drive, because you know where those files are and your computer doesn't have to go thru them every time you are running an application. and finally your computer CPU, if you have an old Central Processor Unit, is very unlikely it will handle today's memory and speed starving programs.I do not defend Yahoo, they will try to used as much memory as they can to make their site look cool and to keep you prisoner, but maybe is both, your computer is not set up right and Yahoo downloaded way too much

Yahoo Messenger is one of the most inefficient programs in terms of what it offers vs. system resources used. If you've also installed the toolbar or, worse, if you are running Internet Explorer with the toolbar and 'enhancements', then your pc is overwhelmed with the Yahoo programs. I recommend uninstalling them all and downloading Trillian. It's a better messenger, uses far less resources, but it doesn't have support for yahoo imvironments and audibles. your choice.
