Fresh out of boot camp, a soldier is assigned to a military post out in the middle of nowhere. After a few days of desolate landscape, with not a town in sight, he asks his sergeant what is to be had in the way of, er, entertainment.
The sergeant points to a barrel with a hole in the side. "Anytime you want, you can stick your dick in that hole."
That night, the soldier is feeling lonely, so he decides to take the sarge's advice and try out the barrel. As soon as he inserts himself in the hole, a wonderful feeling engulfs him, and he can only about 30 sec before he gets off. It feels so good, he is able to use the barrel twice more that night.
The next day, he comes up to the sargeant, and says "Man, that was great! I loved it! I'm definitely going to use the barrel again".
The sergeant says "You can use it anyday you want, except Tuesday".
The soldier asks "But why not on Tuesdays?"
The sargeant's reply: "Because Tuesday is your day in the barrel."

I've read history books that said that the joke was pretty funny during WWI... so it's been funny for nearly 100 years!
