I was and have been very fortunate with Xanax. I've never had a problem with it.
If you have concerns, by all means, discuss them with your doctor and the sooner the better.
And yes, I've been able to work with it. I couldn't work without it. Though now, I'm in the weaning off stage.
Hope this helps, and good luck.

Please take your first dose after work to see how it affects your concentration, alertness, and mood. You may not want to drive if you become excessively drowsy.
Xanax has a number of side effects, but you are unique and may experience one or several of these. Read your pamphlet that comes with the medication so you will have a better idea of what to look for.
I have several patients on xanax, and most state their body adjusts to the medication in 1-2 weeks.
Only you can make the decision regarding this medication. A good rule of thumb is if the benefits far outweigh the side effects, by all means, take the medication.

I went on Xanax to control my panic attacks. My panic attacks went away, although the anxiety of having one come was still there for awhile. After awhile the thought of the panic attacks went away, but then I noticed how foggy everything seemed. I was moving through fog during the day, and I guess that could be sleepy in a way. It took me three months to get over the panic attacks and get off of Xanax (which I hope the doctor told you is addictive) and be myself again. Use it only as a crutch to get you passed whatever you are taking it for. Then try to do other things to get off of it. I did yoga therapy, mind behavior control, and alot of reading of books. I also added some herbs to my diet (which I also looked at more closely to see if something I was eating was helping the panic attacks come on, and what other foods like the omega oils to add to help calm my mind down). Good luck and be smart.

I think you should talk with your doctor about your concerns. Xanax is not something to take if you have concerns about it. Seriously talk with your doctor, and if you still have concerns, get a second oppinion from another doctor. Someone who went through medical school may be more suited to answer a question like this.

yes, xanax (alprazolam) will make you totally tired, at least at the beginning. it'll take time to get used to it. as for working, you may find yourself nodding off at the computer--really bad position to be in. you don't wanna have to explain you're on meds. only suggestion: get coffee, or half caf; it may give you the jitters and panic, though, so recommend mostly decaf mixed w/caf.

This drug is highly addictive and you should only take it for a very short time if at all.
