I have like this guy for so long but I can't tell him because I'm scared of what he might say. What would you do.

You are doing right.You shouldnt make the first move.If you ask him out first,you are indeed spoiling all that fun.If he is into you he will ask you out.Dont worry.If i was in love i wouldnt do anything but expect the guy to approach me first.Guys love the thrill of chase.I suggest you to give him time.The above advice is applicable if the two of you are friends and know each other well.
But if this guy dont know you yet,the best thing to do is to introduce yourself to him.Get to know each other well.Keep it in the friendship level.After knowing each other well and if he seems to be interested in you,then,keep your fingers crossed and give him the thrill of chase until he asks you out.
Never play too hard to get.If the two of you are meant to be you will get him.Good Luck!

Maybe you are scared to tell him because you aren't really sure if its love or like. Might want to explore the details with a parent, or a close friend. If its love, don't stress. You'll find a way soon.
