any light color will make your skin appear darker, just like when you wear a white blouse

Uhh I'm not really sure of your question, but i'll give it a shot.

We all have different skin colors. When we are wearing a "good" or appropriate color for our skin TONE we look healthier, brighter, "glowing", etc. This is completely seperate from skin COLOR - this has to do with the undertones - i.e., if you're warm or cool, if you look better in reds and oranges or blues and pinks.

Many people can determine if they are cool or warm very easily and quickly, and the right colors are obvious. Others (like myself) are in between, and can seem to look neutral, or fine, in both families, BUT there is one that looks MORE fine...

As far as the deepness in color (shade) of your skin...
It's all about contrasting it with your hair color (again, the deepness, not the undertones) that will make you seem tan, pale, fair, etc.

If you're pale, and you have natural light blonde hair and pale skin, you will look MORE pale if you change your hair to black, since it's in contrast to a darker color now. If you have black hair and medium skin, and you lighten your hair, you might seem "tan".

If you'd like to change your hair color to something dark and you have fairer skin, tkae into consideration the TONE of both. If you are warm and you want to go brown for instance, find a color that will leave your hair with red/orange undertones(this is golden, typically) If you're cool, and you want to go brown (and still fair), find a color that will leave you with blue/violet or neutral undertones (this is typically ash-colors).

Professional colors will always say the undertones on the bottle (not the box stuff!! check a beauty store!). Keep in mind the red stages in bleaching processes if youre going light.

And, remember, if you are "cool", and you tan or use bronzer, this will effect everything! By adding a fake tanner or altering the pigment in your skin (with ANY face make up at all) you are covering up your natural undertones.

I hope that helped. :)

It's because of the contrast the colour makes against your skin. If your hair is blonde then your skin is naturally fairer and if you dye it black then the pale skin would be very obvious.
