i appreciate your enthusiasm for such a topic, but i don't like this question. that being said i'll give a brief answer. as a matter of disclosure, i am biased as i was a member of the US Army Special Forces.

personally, and i've trained with guys from all over the world, i don't think there is one "most elite" special forces soldier/unit... but there are plenty of good ones.

movies have made the US Navy SeALs popular. There are Army Rangers, USMC Recon and MEUs, AF Pararescue, "Green Berets" (my fav), etc. all have their missions...

then there are the ones you never hear about that are pretty hardcore in their own way. the Air Force has guys known as Combat Weathermen... just like it sounds these guys are meterologists who receive enough special ops training to allow them to function in places your local news weathermen would never want to visit.

but if we are picking an elite, i got to go with my big bothers in Delta Force... or their "secret squirrel" counterparts that operate in a more unofficial capacity (these are the guys that team up with CIA operators).

also, there are many non-military outfits that are fine at what they do, for example the FBI's HRT (hostage rescue team)... even the Department of Energy has a well qualified response team.

plenty of good foreign units as well... the British SAS are the first to come to mind as they pioneered much of the SF world. the Germans took their lesson at Munich and developed an outstanding anti-terrorism unit, the Israeli Sayeret are some of the best, the Canadian JTF2 is rumored to have the longest (sniper) kill on record, etc.

in other words, there are many good soliders out there. you'll find that SF units tend to train and even operate together.

It depends how you look at it. If you want the best criminal elite forces in the world then it would have to be The French Foreign Legion as how they are made up of mostly bad people to begin with. If you want the best of the best then it has to be the Navy Seals. The Israelis also have a hell of team too.

many would agree that it would.it would be Delta Force. It does exist but not by that name. The offical designation is 1st SOFD-A. Delta recruits from all branches but the numbers mainly come from within the all aspects of the Army. Proven combat leaders from units such as the 82nd Airbrone, Rangers, and Special Forces are routinely sent recruiting emails and packets for info. 1st SOFD falls under Spec Ops Command which is ran by guess who? the Army...who happens to run schools for airborne, pathfinder, air assualt, halo...etc.

Delta forces is one of them, their family members did not have to show ID cards when coming on post. They had special badges for them, when I did a detail to check ID cards. The Delta forces are allowed to wear mushtaches and beards.
