I would suggest having someone take care of your dog at your home or theirs even if you have to pay a fee.....dogs get ill quite easily in a kennel...kennel cough is easily passed about and would probably cost more to treat than if you paid someone to watch your pup, kennel cough can kill!

Be sure the kennel is good and it won't scar your dog any more than leaving a child with a good babysitter would cause problems.

DO be sure the kennel is a good one. Stop by and see for yourself if the dogs are given a chance TO play or if they're just left in cages, unattended. Check the cleanliness of the place too. If it's a good kennel they'll be happy to give you a tour so that you can see how your dog will be treated and where he'll stay.

No, it won't but he will feel lonely so try to make it only a couple of days like 4-5. At first, he will think that you abandoned him. After a while, he will make friends and play all day . But just remember, when you pick him up, expect lots of love and kisses and tails wagging and big happy eyes. Buy him a special treat and spend a lot of time with him. he will get used to being way from you but he will understand that you still love him.

Its a good idea to get your dog used to kennel stay from a young age. We never did that with our dogs, and they got so attached to us they would refuse to eat if we left them for even a day. As a result my elderly mother would stay home and never go anywhere just for the sake of the dogs. Dont let this type of situation happen. Get the dog used to some separation from you, so it learns to stay cheerful and fine in your absence.

No it will be ok! Let him sleep with a blanket a few days before you take him there, and then take it with him and ask them to keep it in his kennel. He will be more acclimated because he'll be used to the smell from home. Also, take some toys he is used to too. The kennel should be more than willing to accomodate you.

NO. In fact it's a good idea for the dog to get that experience early in life, if you plan to use the kennel frequently.

Yes it will. In a few years you will have to take the dog to AA. Also you can make the rounds from Dr. Phil to Jerry Springer. Your dog is going to be really messed up.

It's good to get used to being left at a kennel, because you might need to do that again and agaain in his lifetime. If he is in good conditions, no cold or heat, clean environment, time outside the cage etc, he'll be fine.

Nope, as long as it's a good kennel. I've left my dogs at kennels, they're fine.
