So I've had this budgie for quite a while, and he behaves very well except for when it comes to morning time. During a time everyone's still sleeping, he's constantly screeching, waking everyone up, especially me since he resides inside my room. He's very loud, and I'm becoming very fed up with waking up to the noise, and him not being quiet. I understand budgies are talkative by nature, but is there not a way to cease this annoyingly loud screeching every single morning? Experienced bird handlers, please do tell.

I know the sound very well! Your Budgie is calling for his mate.........you! He has become very attached to you,and is seeking your attention. Unfortunately there is not much you can do.You could try to keep your room as dark as possible, keep the curtains closed, place a blanket or sheet, whatever, to keep as much daylight out as possible. Other than that,be sure before you retire to bed, your bird has all his needs, food, are you blowing the shucks off his seed? Sometimes it looks as though they have plenty of food, but in fact its maily shucks. be sure to do this three, four times a day.Check water. Has your bird got a mirror? If not,try one,it may divert his attention away from you. If your bird is near a window, try a different place,so he gets less daylight. One last thing, check to make sure your bird is ok. Beak? Nails? Normal droppings? All the normal things. I wish you luck with this!!!

Cover the cage with a dark sheet. He will start making noise at first light of day.

Have you tried covering the cage at night? ... do you have a well ventilated large closet you can put the cage in at night so it stays dark for him until you are up and can move him back to your room?

put a blanket over the cage, it's no different to birds outside, when its getting light they wake up and start chirping and singing.

cover the cage so he doesn't know it's morning until after you get up.
