Guys usually mean it.
In my experience, it's the GIRLS that usually go through the silly tap-dance of saying the opposite of what they really mean!

First of all, not ALL people (guys or girls) think alike. Most of the time he means, you don't have to get/give me anything special but do if it makes you happy ;)

Why do people feel obligated to give someone something just because of this stupid holiday. I thought this was a religious holiday. Why do you have to go broke trying to buy everyone you know a gift? That will just make you miserable in return...especially when the bills come due.

It's the thought that counts...just because he isn't in the holiday spirit doesn't mean you should not be either. If you already got him starbuck bucks, then give them to him, and say Merry Christmas. If you don't get anything in return, don't be upset, cause that's not what Christmas is about anyway.

yea... he means it! He probably didnt get you anything and dont want to go through the trouble of going to get an "oh sh*t" gift! Just tell him you got a gift card and you would like to take him to starbucks somthing to drink. Would be kinda the same thing.

I think he really doesn't feels good about Christmas gifts, and you can give the gift card to another friend of you...

Give it to him! That is just something that everyone says. They may mean it, and maybe they do not. Either way, he should be thankful for the gift unless he is an ungrateful person usually...

It probably means don't get me nothing becasue I haven't gotten you anything. especially after getting a gift card already.

What he really meant is "Gee, I hope I don't have to get YOU anything, because I couldn't afford what you'd like, even if I had a clue what that was". If you got him a gift, he'll feel indebted, but that is in your favor.

Normally if I say that it is because I just can't think of anything I want at the moment. But it's still nice to recieve something.
