It could have been Beaujolais, which is a fresh-tasting wine that is consumed within a few months of being bottled. Or it could have been a concord grape wine like Mogen David or Manischevitz. Very sweet, like grape juice.

Although all wine is made from grapes, the finished wines do not -- with one exception -- taste like grapes. That is why wine writers use such a broad range of flavor descriptors, naming most fruits (blackcurrant, pear, apricot etc), but not a grape.
The one exception is the Muscat grape -- wines made from Muscat really do have a grapey taste. Although there are some excellent dry Muscat wines, most wines are white and sweet or semi-sweet.
You may have had a semi sparkling semi-sweet Italian Moscato or a French Beaumes-de-Venise. There are different strains of Muscat with different names and from the information you give it is impossible to name which wine you had.
A winery, region or even country that the wine came from would be a start. But I suggest you look for Muscat

All wine is made from grapes. If the wine you had tasted just like grapes maybe grape juice is all it was.

It could be a cheap lambrusco. Or, oh what was the name of that cheap grape wine?? It's what churches use. I can't remember the brand name, but it has a screw cap and says Concord Grape on the label. MOGEN DAVID! That's it! Wow, took me a while to remember the old college days.

just make your own its easy
GRAPE WINE RECIPE
This recipe makes just under one gallon.
1 qt. grapes (heaping full quart)
2 lb. sugar
1 pkg. powdered Fleischmann's Yeast
Use a big mouth earthen or glass jar - 1 gallon size. Mash grapes in jar and pour in sugar. (Use potato masher or anything to crush grapes.) Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir well.
Fill jar to within about 3/4 inch of top with warm water. Cover jar with cheese cloth or other porous cloth so air can get in jar and fumes get out.
Put in a place and keep at least 21 days. Strain and put in bottles, dark ones best.
