Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for your situation

Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

The first stop should always be with the school's financial aid office. You will need to push for time and advice, but they are very knowledgeable and should be able to provide some assistance.

Two government sites that should help are:
http://studentaid.ed.gov/
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

They provide a good overview of federal financial aid programs.

Student loans are still an option. Your daughter can get a Stafford Loan ( www.StaffordLoan.com ) without any credit checks. If you apply for a PLUS Loan ( www.ParentPLUSLoan.com ) and are rejected because of your credit, your daughter should be able to borrow additional funding through the Stafford Loan.

Grants and scholarships are always the best way to pay. Find some options on-line at:
http://www.StudentScholarshipSearch.com
and other on-line websites.

Finally, see if you can find local resources where you can talk to someone personally about financial aid options. Some public libraries have a college advice center...

Go to the college or university that your daughter wishes to attend, or to the advising office at her current school. You can get a fafsa, or Free Application For Federal Student Aid. You can also find fafsa online. All federal financial aid is determined by this application. It is best to to apply early in the calendar year. Most schools have deadlines for when the fafsa report must be in. You will need to have tx and asset information. Most of what you need and where and how to file is available through the fafsa website.
