Is you family safe? Fire travels 19 ft per second, how fast can you crawl?
Todays store bought detectors will probably not save your life. They go off when you cook, you take the batteries out, you stand under it with a towel waving it trying to get it to shut off. Yea Thats gonna save your family in a fire.....

I would NEVER remove the batteries in my smoke detector.

Mine do go off when I cook, but I don't take the batteries out. So I will be safe. Besides I live in a small apartment so if my place was on fire I would be able to smell it no matter what room I was in.

Mines work just fine I set it off every time I cook.

My smoke detectors do not work, but my carbon monoxide detectors do.
